Why is Auditing your Equipment Important?

Healthcare associated infections (HCAI) cost the NHS an estimated £1 billion a year; if a patient contracts a HCAI they will cost the NHS three times more to treat than an uninfected patient.

It is estimated that with good practice and careful hygiene around 15% to 30% of cases where a patient contracts a HCAI could be avoided.

All healthcare organisations must now be registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and be actively working towards improving cleanliness and reducing the infection rates in their organisation.

Regular auditing is just one action you can take towards meeting national CQC regulations and safeguarding your patients and staff. Being able to identify when products are no longer ‘fit for purpose’ will ensure that you always have the most effective equipment in use and enable you to maintain the highest standards of care in your organisation.

“We used to conduct audits internally which was really time-consuming until we were introduced to Park House Healthcare. Their Audit Team is superb. It is enough to arrange a suitable date via head office. The Audit Team will arrive on the agreed date and will notify all the wards well in advance.
The audit is conducted very professionally. All the mattresses are marked with the date of the audit so that we know when it was last conducted. The Team usually have some replacement mattresses with them and are able to replace any of the defective mattresses there and then which is convenient for us. After the service is done, the Team produce a professional report of their findings to identify any areas where and why most failures appear. This is a thoroughly professional Team and I can sincerely recommend their services.”
